Stayed January 2017 I never met the host, but we talked over the phone. The experience overall was what I was expected. The house is surrounded by nature, literally the jungle, a very quite place. A perfect place to be for a while if you want to relax, no internet though! The house is within walking distance from the beach, one of the most beautiful in the world called Punta Uva; and it is near some good restaurants in town, Restaurant Blanca and Selvin's and Arrecifes. The condition of the house is good, especially upstairs where the rooms are. Great experience and I will definitely will recommend it!

Stayed September 2017 I spent two weeks at this house in September 2017. The house is nice ..clean and comfortable, and the surrounding forest is beautiful. The host rental company and the maintenance crew are all very nice folks ..responsive, helpful and accommodating. I have rented houses with them several times .They all deserve five stars! : ) I chose this house, not for it’s proximity to the lovely beaches of Punta Uva, but for the opportunity to see and obtain video and audio recordings of wildlife, especially the region’s three species of monkeys. With that priority, I spent the vast majority of my time at the house, watching, listening and waiting. Although often fleetingly, I did see monkeys moving through the trees around the house on 11 (out of 14 days) ..white faced capuchin and spider monkeys. The howlers, though quite audible every day, at a distance, never did appear. I regret to say that I feel responsible to advise any and all who might have a problem with lots of very loud, and very near, barking and howling neighbor dogs, who “go off”, at length, at any hour, day and night, that this was the situation, at least for the full duration of my stay. I’ve seen no mention of this in other reviews, so I have to assume that, either this situation is comparatively new or unusual, or other guests/reviewers weren’t disturbed by it. I didn’t think it would be worthwhile to complain because I couldn’t imagine that anything could be done about it ..that’s just the way it was. ..not the “soundtrack” I had hoped for or anticipated.

Stayed Dec 2017 This is truly a jungle home found in the deep jungle of Punta Uva. It was a great sized house with an upper and lower deck both complete with hammocks, tables and seating where we spent most our time when at the house. The top deck being the best place to see the monkeys you wake up to every morning from howlers, white faced and spider monkeys. This is an open air style home, which none of us were completely aware of, whether we misread description or just didn’t know, however being that deep in the jungle you must know there are bugs. If you are not a fan of bugs from huge moths, mosquitos to giant grasshoppers and occasional cockroach, then this is probably not the house for you. The only thing that had me on alert and on a little on edge was the giant spiders found outside the house and in the yard. Being an extreme arachnophobic, my man, brother and son really enjoyed messing with me with the “don’t move” or the “what’s that?” complete with the pointing. Haha. I was extremely grateful they were only seen outside of the home. Both bedrooms are large and complete with own full size bathroom really catering to the feeling of “home”. The place was clean and really offered everything we needed. House is centrally located between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo (bomb Caribbean food at Maxi’s btw, must try) and a 3 minute walk across the street to the gorgeous Punta Uva beach. If walking, it is quite a distance from Puerto Viejo, however if you have a vehicle it’s super quick or want a nice workout and scenic bike ride it’s perfect! One thing I would say is don’t count on WiFi, which can actually be a very good thing for wanting a true vacation, but if needing to stay somewhat connected for business, work or other reasons, I would suggest finding a place in Puerto Viejo with WiFi (Cafe Rico in PV was one of our favs, amazing coffee roasted in-house, great atmosphere and gorgeous garden where we seen a mama sloth, red frog and toucan) WiFi was pretty much non-existent there even though there is a modem and service. It was a great experience for my family and I, truly relaxing hearing the sounds of the jungle and seeing all the wildlife. Again, if you are startled by bugs and other critters, might not be the best place for you but if you want the true jungle experience complete with monkeys and sloths, not concerned about your phone and a big bed to rest your head, then this is the place! We all had an excellent time even with the rain storm that hit. We will definitely rent from this company again through air bnb and will happily recommend to everyone! Can’t wait to be back.
